On 12/7/02 the Lancaster High School Wrestling Team finished 1st Place in a tournament for the first time in the history of the school.

Lancaster Eagles Start Season in Promising Fashion

Lancaster High School started of the year the way they wanted it to begin. They attended the Andy Campbell Classic at Desert High School and wrestled to a first place win. The Eagles finished with 11 wrestlers in the top three in their class and Defeated Boron High School Bobcats in the finals of the team division tournament. Additionally, Lancaster took home the trophy for the most outstanding wrestler in William Seaver at 171 pounds. Seaver, a sophomore, finished first in his class and was undefeated for the day. Also finishing first was Marc Rodriguez at 160 pounds.

The Lancaster team is wrestling much better this year. In team matches they Defeated Sherman Indian School 66-6, Quartz Hill High School 61-17, Bishop High School 72-6 and Boron 48-36.

Other wrestlers placing in the top three were: Michael Quiroz, 103 pounds, 2nd; Robert Ordonez, 125 pounds, 2nd; Roman Santos, 130 pounds, 2nd; Chris Day, 135 pounds, 2nd; Allan Tepe, 152 pounds, 2nd; Chris Johnson, 171 pounds, 2nd; Anthony Marquez, 189 pounds, 2nd; and Tim Manning, Heavy Weight, 3rd.

The Eagles will host a three-way dual tournament with Boron and Silverado on Wednesday at Lancaster high school in the large gym with action starting at 5:30 PM.
